AD Music has confirmed that it will be releasing a third David Wright compilation for release later in 2012. Volume 3 “Beyond the Airwaves” will focus on David’s more ‘esoteric’ space music output and will include a complete reworking of the acclaimed 1994 spaced out “Beyond the Airwaves” epic originally released on the Zenith magazine sampler in 1993 and subsequently lengthened and re-recorded for ‘Ocean Watch’ CD in 1994. The new version will be a new, rerecorded and updated version based on the original, not a digital remaster.  A double CD release is being discussed and it will also contain several remastered tracks from David’s catalogue plus new, unreleased music. It’s seems likely that ‘Beyond the Airwaves’ will be released towards the end of 2012, perhaps to coincide with his September USA concerts or his German concert at Boccum Planetarium on 30th December. More details will be posted when available.

“Enchantment” is an expertly crafted and original multi-layered, electronic music opus that at times reminds one of Tangerine Dream circa “Exit” with its style, mood and hauntingly beautiful themes. As with Claudio’s previous releases, there are occasional world music influences provided by delicate vocal layers, but these are subtle and never overdone. The instrumental music is melodic and atmospheric with gently drifting rhythms and a wonderful depth and feel that demands repeated listens.

Claudio’s music has similar emotional sensibilities to AD Music stalwarts David Wright and Bekki Williams, so its easy to see why the Italians maestros music is proving so popular. It will appeal to lovers of quality melodic new age and electronic music, and as well as being mastered and co-produced by David Wright, he also pitches in with a remix of the title track. David Wright is on record as saying that “Moments In Time” represented the first album where he felt he had really honed his own original electronic music style and was recording music he was happy with musically and technically.

“Extended, vast, melodic soundscapes with both cosmic/spacey and romantic/emotional undertones with no powerful rhythms, and the ultimate epic scale work to be produced by Dave Wright! It opens with a seven-minute track that has a distinctly anthemic, almost militaristic, flavour to its slowly marching rhythms, but there’s a silent quality to the vari-textured lead work from harpsichord-like, and surrounding space synths, which together with the main leads that rise up on a big melodic wave, give the piece a full sense of grandeur that never becomes overblown. Following this comes the five-part, sixty-nine minute ‘Spirit Of The Plains’, a work that is mind-bogglingly vast in its scope and breadth.

Much of the music is cosmic, but that’s not to say it doesn’t have added melodies here, slowly moving rhythms there, and beautiful space synth swoops all over the place, while at its heart remaining a slowly gathering epic of gorgeous synthscapes. As always, no idea ever outstays its welcome, the mood is always one of warmth, depth and the music is positively galaxian in scope. The assorted textural variety of synth “voices” from strings to flutes, and deep bass to flowing cosmic synths, is both vast and spectacular, while the added melodic qualities and the overall openness of the soundscapes only serve to enhance what is an already quite incredible epic piece.

This disc’s seventy-nine minutes playing time passes almost imperceptibly as you settle down to some of the best UK cosmic melodic music of its time.
