David Wright “Moments In Time” reissue now available.

David Wright’s epic 1994 CD “Moments In Time”, an album that received many plaudits on its release despite its controversial subject matter – certain historical events surrounding the American Plains Indians with 12 page text by author Joyce Cooper - has been reissued for download release in remastered format and to correct long standing confusion surrounding the track listing. The 5 suite epic should have been split into 18 interlinked parts but has been widely available for download in 5 parts, so this reissue address’s that problem while offering a remaster of the music as well.

The best selling space music CD is still widely available, but the new 18 track download version will be available from itunes and other major online stores from early January 2012. However, the new 18 track version is available now from the AD Music website with soundbites for all 18 tracks. The downloads also come with full artwork including the Joyce cooper text. David Wright is on record as saying that “Moments In Time” represented the first album where he felt he had really honed his own original electronic music style and was recording music he was happy with musically and technically.

“Extended, vast, melodic soundscapes with both cosmic/spacey and romantic/emotional undertones with no powerful rhythms, and the ultimate epic scale work to be produced by Dave Wright! It opens with a seven-minute track that has a distinctly anthemic, almost militaristic, flavour to its slowly marching rhythms, but there’s a silent quality to the vari-textured lead work from harpsichord-like, and surrounding space synths, which together with the main leads that rise up on a big melodic wave, give the piece a full sense of grandeur that never becomes overblown. Following this comes the five-part, sixty-nine minute ‘Spirit Of The Plains’, a work that is mind-bogglingly vast in its scope and breadth.

Much of the music is cosmic, but that’s not to say it doesn’t have added melodies here, slowly moving rhythms there, and beautiful space synth swoops all over the place, while at its heart remaining a slowly gathering epic of gorgeous synthscapes. As always, no idea ever outstays its welcome, the mood is always one of warmth, depth and the music is positively galaxian in scope. The assorted textural variety of synth “voices” from strings to flutes, and deep bass to flowing cosmic synths, is both vast and spectacular, while the added melodic qualities and the overall openness of the soundscapes only serve to enhance what is an already quite incredible epic piece.

This disc’s seventy-nine minutes playing time passes almost imperceptibly as you settle down to some of the best UK cosmic melodic music of its time.

Steve Orchard “Counting Stars” download release

Pleased to announce a new download only release “Counting Stars”, which pulls together some of Steve Orchards best known instrumental music tracks from his “Dancer” series of albums released a few years ago and includes a couple of new tracks as well, all remastered. Steve has a gentle but full sounding style of acoustic new age music, featuring expertly played acoustic guitar, flutes, harp, keyboard pads and occasional percussion. Because it’s a compilation, this is a much livelier and more diverse collection of songs than his dreamy “Riverboat” released earlier this year. But just like that excellent release, the music drifts along nicely, flowing over you in delicate waves while always retaining interest with some nice, gentle rhythmic motion. Ideas never outstay their welcome and the music is varied in tempo and style, well structured and ideal for meditation or simply relaxing to. The 14 tracks offer an ideal starting place if you’re new to the music of Steve Orchard and a nice companion to the catalogue if you already have his music on your shelf. Geigertek (Neil Fellowes) and his unique style of instrumental music will be featured live on the Terry Hawke show Saturday night/ Sunday morning 17th/18th December at around 00.15 GMT, so if you’re in the USA that will probably be a early evening time. Although remember Terrys show starts around 20:00 hours GMT. If you’re in the UK and Europe, its one for the late birds………………but definitely worth staying up for, as indeed the Terry Hawke show always is on a Saturday night/Sunday morning. Expect Neils usual humorous patter and all the latest news, music from his latest electronic music CD “Soundtrack for City Living” plus information on his forthcoming musical projects.

Fireflies everywhere are piercing through the darkness. Gnomes an dpixies are playing with foliage. Weird, felted and poetic atmosphere in the House of the Elves, nested on Denfert Square, (in the centre of Montbeliard) and from which the scenery is signed Christophe Holbein from Altkirch. Here, every week-end (as well as tuesdays, wednesdays and fridays also from 17:00 onwards) Gwam the artist (Véronique Giust in real life) tells legends from Franche-Comté accompanied with a live improvised music from Olivier Goyet on hammered dulcimer (clavecin’s ancester). Here, Gwam, between a dryad fairy and a tree tells the story of the green lady, the absinthe nickname which made you go crazy: “Yes but a plante with great properties and beautiful vertues, unfortunately perverted by mankind like so many gifts which Nature offered them ». All the Franche Comté lagends, revisited by Gwam Giust the artiste, invite to the respect of Mother Nature, defend Women, and value faieries. She says « I incarnate different characters which link the world of Human to the one of Faieries ». All along the week-end, Gwam & Olivier, joined with the dancers Sarra & Laurence, leave the House of the Eleves to parade in fire and melody games in town and on the site of the christmas market. Well worth a watch and a listen.

Robert Fox – Asfafa 2

Delighted to announce that Robert Fox is currently working on a complete re-imagining of the instrumental music classic Asfafa for CD and download release in 2012. Those of you following Robert Fox on facebook will know that he has found all the old files for Asfafa and is working on his old Atari ST computer, re-recording the entire Asfafa album from scratch, so this isn’t a remaster but, like we said, a complete re-imagining of this classic album for the 21st century. Indeed, when released next year it will be the albums 21st anniversary. Robert hopes to add additional tracks as well, so this album should be a real treat for fans old and new! Keep up-to-date with news on this through the AD instrumental music website or blog, or of course, Robert Fox’s facebook.

Dead Beat Project news upsate

Some news from our French instrumental music artist Olivier Goyet, better known at Dead Beat Project, whose awesome debut album “R’Evolution” was released by AD Music last year. He is currently working with Gwam for the Montbeliard City as artists for their Christmas Market up until December for 4 to 5 days a week. They have settled on the “house of the Elves” and are doing approximately 2 tales of 30 mins every day to a small audience of 20 to 30, with Fairy tales of the Franche Comte – the Green Fairy (the fairy of the fields and forest of Franche Comte), the Vouivre, or wyvern – The Fairy Snake. Those of you who have seen the Gwam art will already know just how wonderfully artistic it is. If you haven’t seen it yet, then it’s definitely worth a look. Olivier does the musical accompaniment on his Hammered Dulcimer and a Hapi Drum also, and that actually allows him to improvise and gel some tracks in. Olivier and Gwam are also taking part every Tuesday night (up until christmas) in another even that is organized but the tourism office of the same city (still for the Christmas market). This has all had some success and our profile is seriously rising (locally at least). The market usually brings a crowd of 40000 + people over the space of a month. They’ve also been working for hairdressers, participating in national hairdressing exhibitions. Gwam was choreographing the shows while Olivier was looking after the music.
Olivier is also working on 3 albums. An Olivier Goyet solo, which might be entitled “ReverLand” or “Tuatha-De-Danann”. This is a combination of relaxing and lively music best suited for fairytales, with celtic as well as ambient, oriental and world music influences.
A Dead Beat Project album, follow up to R’Evolution is also under construction and a A DBP Concept project, which would be a dance club album with progressive tracks.

As a footnote, the excellent R’Evolution” album is one of the CDs featured in AD Music’s Christmas offer @ £5.99 for a limited period up until 20th December…………………..

Bungay Bash 2012 details

Details of the 9th June 2012 Bungay Bash (BBC2) are now on the AD Music website. Tickets are available and cost £12. There are details about Bungay, directions to us and links to local web sites for B & B and hotels. We will confirm receipt of ticket orders and advise when you will receive them.

The line up is Modulator ESP, Michael Shipway, David Wright & Friends plus maybe a cellar act similar to last years event. Doors open at 13:00 hours and the event ends at around 22:00 hours.

All three acts are being filmed so please note that virtual tickets will not be available.

Robert Fox – The Fire and the Rose “Remaster”

If you are a fan of Vangelis and have yet to hear the instrumental music of Robert Fox, then you are in for a treat! When “The Fire & the Rose” was originally released back in 1991, many reviewers actually dared to say that Robert Fox was surpassing the works of Vangelis himself. Subsequent releases have shown just what a genius Robert Fox really is, but revisiting this extraordinary album confirms that not only is ”The Fire & the Rose” one of the all time best Robert Fox albums, but it is one of the best symphonic electronic music albums ever.

The connection to T.S. Eliot’s “The Four Quartets” has ensured added interest and with perennial sales, now, 20 years on and “The Fire and the Rose” has undergone a superb digital remaster by David Wright with fresh new artwork presenting the music in a much richer and warmer soundscape than the original. Musically though it remains one of the most heartfelt musical statements you’ll ever hear and fully deserving of the accolade “A classic”. If the original is on your CD shelf, then you’ll want to investigate this remaster. If it isn’t, then it should be!
